Building a Library Front Door Agent with Library OpenWorkflows

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

The presenters will discuss the application of Library Open Workflows in their exploration of front-end library services. Authors will go through their workflow, discuss the steps taken to connect to external services, and discuss privacy/security challenges they faced when experimenting with the n8n.io environments. We will discuss how such an AI Assistant can aid information, reference services, and circulation, and how it might work with patrons to support navigation, discovery, and delivery. The premise is that local catalog, access, and policy information would result in a better AI assistant. Presenters will discuss failed strategies (screen scraping) as well as better ways of working with vendors (beyond Ex Libris) to expose content/services - either through MPC connectors, API calls, or connections to cached copies loaded in databases.
