Building Custom Primo Search Profiles

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

Primo search profiles offer a way to target user searches to a particular grouping or subset of materials. The flexibility of Primo VE within Alma allows librarians to build custom searches that can meet specific needs, resulting in potentially much faster and more useful search results. In this presentation I'll provide a broad overview of search profiles along with local data scopes, and explain the difference between the two. I'll also demonstrate and explain a few profiles we created at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville. Finally, I'll walk the audience through a search profile that addresses a long standing problem at many institutions - that of discovering and locating "music specific" resources. I'll explain how the idea evolved, share the design details of the search profile, and demonstrate how we use Analytics to track its usage.
