Out with the Old, Faceting the New: Updating a ‘New Books’ Workflow

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

Several years ago, a workflow developed by a former systems librarian for populating a 'New Books' facet in Primo stopped working. Because this workflow relied on custom scripting and dependencies that Getty had decided to migrate away from, we needed to develop a new 'New Books' workflow. This talk will outline the process of developing a sustainable workflow for flagging recently added books in Alma and Primo that leverages existing tools within the systems themselves and minimizes the need for additional staff labor. In addition to sharing the new workflow, the talk will explore processes for creative problem solving, systems sustainability, and building consensus around digital workflow change.
