Expanding Access: Starting Whole Ebook Lending within CSU Libraries

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

In 2025, CSU Sacramento became the first campus in the CSU system to implement whole eBook lending—a new approach to resource sharing that had not previously been used within the consortium. Whole eBook lending enables the complete electronic book to be delivered through Interlibrary Loan, providing patrons with faster and more seamless access to digital resources. For students who expect immediate access to electronic materials, this model offers an innovative way to leverage the collective resources of the entire CSU system. This presentation will explore the implementation process, workflows, along with the benefits and challenges encountered along the way. It aims to serve as a roadmap for other institutions interested in adopting this emerging trend in resource sharing.
