In this session, we will discuss how legal requirements for digital accessibility shape practical workflows in libraries and University as a whole. From a brief overview of Title II requirements for public institutions and how private institutions can learn from it, we will discuss campus-wide efforts at the University of Southern California including compliance programs, procurement practices, vendor accountability, and collaboration with campus partners to support digital accessibility. We will also discuss University of Montana Title II implementation, specifically hands-on work with accessibility metadata, including what it is, why it matters, and how MARC 21 metadata can improve discovery of accessible physical resources. Together, the presentations explore how libraries can navigate limitations, support both public and staff-facing accessibility, and translate regulatory requirements into meaningful improvements for users.
