Session Information

Purchase order templates are a powerful tool for standardizing and simplifying the acquisitions process. By utilizing templates, libraries can ensure greater data consistency and minimize the potential for errors in ordering workflows. In recent years, our reliance on purchase order templates has grown as more staff members assumed ordering responsibilities. This shift was driven not only by the need to redistribute workload but also by the expansion of acquisitions for new content types, such as limited term streaming licenses and article processing fees. Additionally, our need to engage with smaller vendors for specialized materials like rare and artists books has underscored the importance of well structured templates. Through a collaborative template review project, staff edited or deleted existing templates and created new templates that reflect acquisition growth areas. The review process strengthened departmental collaboration, as team members worked together to refine templates which ultimately simplified onboarding and ensured efficient purchasing.
