Problems in catalog data can make it harder for patrons to find and use library resources, and can also undermine staff workflows, reporting, and decision-making. Over the past several years, we have intentionally gone looking for trouble in our catalog by using Alma Analytics to surface patterns of cataloging errors and inconsistencies, and by adding resolution of these issues to our regular cataloging workflows. In this session, we will explore some new and updated Alma Analytics reports for identifying cataloging issues, and show how we run these reports regularly to maintain a tidier and more effective catalog. We will also introduce how we are using additional tools (including indication rules and Library Open Workflows) to find even more kinds of trouble, improving the catalog for both library staff and patrons.
