While many vendors provide Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) invoice files to accompany PDF invoices and support integration between vendors' accounting systems and Alma's acquisitions data, not all do. To bypass the labor-intensive task of manual invoice entry for one of its most frequently used vendors, the University of Michigan Library developed software that converts PDF invoices into EDI invoice files. These files can be imported via the Ex Libris Secure FTP Service using Alma's EDI jobs, enabling automated invoice creation in Alma. This presentation will discuss how the need for the software was identified, how it was developed and implemented, how it works, and an evaluation of its results.
