Session Information

Ensuring that modern and legacy web applications meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards is an increasingly important responsibility for development teams. Advances in large language models (LLMs) offer an opportunity to streamline this work by assisting in the refactoring and optimization of front‑end code. This presentation explores practical techniques for integrating LLM tools into accessibility workflows to identify issues, propose improvements, and enhance overall code quality. We will demonstrate how LLMs can identify inaccessible patterns in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; rewrite components to improve semantic structure and keyboard navigation; generate alt text and ARIA attributes; and support screen‑reader compatibility efforts. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of how to incorporate LLM‑assisted code suggestions into existing development pipelines, along with actionable approaches for leveraging AI to make accessibility improvements and deliver standards‑compliant web applications.
