More Than a Record Merge: Combining Two Institution Zones in a Multi-Institution Alma Network Zone

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

As part of the integration of two California State University campuses, the libraries at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal Maritime undertook the work of integrating two Alma Institution Zones into a single IZ within an existing shared Network Zone. This session presents an in progress case study of a one year effort to align configurations, workflows, and governance across Alma, Primo VE, and Rapido. Presenters will discuss how the project moved from early assessment and planning into a defined integration strategy, how planning teams were established across the institutions and consortium, and how governance structures were developed to support shared services. Attendees will learn what has worked so far, what has not, and when and how to involve Ex Libris during large scale system changes. While the IZ integration will complete in July 2026, this session focuses on actionable lessons learned to date for libraries pursuing shared services.
