Migrating from Alma to Alma: Develop a Migration Mindset Outside of a Migration!

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

Using the framework proposed by Elizabeth McAulay in her 2021 article Always be Migrating, this session will consider what it means to prepare for a migration even when one isn't planned. This session will consider tips for continuous migration preparation including ongoing cleanup tasks that will make your Alma instance cleaner, easier to use for patrons and staff, and improve the accuracy of your reporting. Through the lens of migrations, this session will consider change management when staying within the Alma/Primo ecosystem, and provide tips for how to overcome migration and implementation challenges long after the actual migration-- tips that will ensure that migration pains don't fester. This session will also consider Alma-specific policies (such as treatment of bound-with material, use of CZ collections, and acquisitions practices) that benefit from having migration considerations applied to them, even if there's no migration on the horizon.
