The presenter will describe a study that compared Primo Research Assistant to three other Academic AI tools: Consensus, Elicit, and Claude. The study is based on actual reference questions submitted to the Cal State East Bay Library via its Springhare chat reference interface. It analyzes the relevance of the articles retrieved by each search tool in response to unedited reference queries. The study is a response to Aaron Tay's provocative assertion that Academic AI search tools are "competing almost entirely on the difference in their retrieval and ranking capabilities."
