At Binghamton University Libraries, a database overlap analysis project is underway comparing EBSCO, Gale, and ProQuest database products against our entire holdings. The goal of the project is to identify unique titles and titles with partial coverage within database subscription packages in order to determine the extent they are being used. (ie cost-per-use) The hope is that a few cancellations can be made to free up some ongoing funds for new collections initiatives. To accomplish this work, we are using Alma's Overlap & Collection Analysis Tool alongside a locally created COUNTER usage statistics dashboard in Analytics. We'll cover the context, workflow, results, and subsequent decisions of the project during the presentation.
