All In: Making Library Migration Projects Truly Collaborative

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

Library system migrations are often viewed as technical projects, but their success hinges on making a system that meets the needs of all stakeholders. While migration projects typically establish stakeholder groups, the actual workload usually is concentrated into few individuals, leading to silos and overlooked requirements. This session explores the UNLV Libraries’ transition from Primo Classic to Primo VE, specifically focusing on how we fostered genuine, cross-functional engagement throughout the testing and migration phases. In this migration, we intentionally integrated staff from circulation, technical services, and public services into the core testing process which enabled us to proactively identify friction points before they reached our users. We will share the specific strategies we used to distribute the workload and ensure that the final discovery environment reflected a holistic library perspective. Join us to discuss how to transform "stakeholders" into partners, ensuring a more sustainable and inclusive migration.
