While ideal staff transitions feature seamless handovers and robust documentation, reality often involves significant knowledge gaps and staffing shortages. Following several retirements in UNLV Libraries' Acquisitions and Discovery Services, our team faced the challenge of assuming new roles with incomplete legacy documentation. Rather than recreating the past, we focused on rebuilding workflows centered on current service impact. This presentation discusses our process of analyzing library needs and consulting stakeholders to redefine these workflows. Central to our success was leveraging existing staff skill sets while fostering a supportive culture for navigating the unknown.
