As shared print programs continue to mature, collection development tools must evolve to support increasingly complex, collaborative workflows. As a key focus group partner, the Keep@Downsview Shared Print Program brought its distinctive operational realities, challenges, and priorities into the development of Rialto’s Collection Development Workflows. This session examines how Keep@Downsview’s real-world shared print practices informed product design and how the resulting capabilities may streamline and strengthen shared print workflows and decision-making. Marlene van Ballegooie will present Downsview’s workflows, highlighting areas where collection development tools have fallen short and how Rialto’s emerging functionality aligns with, and may enhance, these processes. Raphael Gabbay will discuss practitioner-driven design, illustrating how focus group feedback shapes product decisions and feature development. Together, the presenters will demonstrate how sustained collaboration between libraries and vendors can produce practical, scalable tools that address shared print needs and support a sustainable future for collaborative collection management.
